Islam Editorial Review
On the Perfect State is a revised edition published by Kazi Publications, Inc. This work spans 588 pages and offers an enlightening exploration of al-Farabi’s political philosophy, showcasing not only his NeoPlatonist roots but also his Aristotelian and Spinozan influences. The edition includes both a parallel Arabic text and extensive commentary by Richard Walzer, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in Arabic philosophical thought. Readers have praised the quality of the printing, noting that it is substantially better than earlier editions, with dark, clear text that lies flat. Despite some minor criticisms regarding certain sections, the book is described as essential for a comprehensive understanding of the philosophical landscape shaped by al-Farabi.
