The Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty Knife is a versatile, strong and easily maintained knife. It is suitable for processing and skinning cows and young bulls, deboning and parting, gutting pigs and even batoning hard wood for kindling, though it’s not full tang. It features a Sandvik carbon steel blade that needs to be oiled after every use to prevent rust. The rubber handle is comfortable and grippy, even when wet and bloody, and it comes accompanied by a good-quality sheath. The knife feels slightly heavier and has a somewhat larger handle than the standard model. Some drawbacks are that the spine of the blade is rounded, making it difficult to strike a ferro rod, and it lacks a lanyard hole. The sheath only stores the knife in one direction.
