It is made out of steel and can lift dirt bikes up with ease using only 20lbs of effort. The top part of the stand rotates on a screw-stud, but there's a locking ring to lock the top into position. The lowering is damped by a small shock absorber which prevents the bike from crashing down when lifted. The stand is kind of hefty because of the steel, but it works well for its intended use. The product has a good amount of adjustment available depending on what is being worked on, so even e-bikes can be balanced with plywood adjustments. However, the stand is not tall enough or goes high enough for full-size dirt bikes like it should, as shown in the image online. There are concerns with the tolerance between the two pieces of steel that Construct the stand, with a 1/8'' gap making the bike lean hard to one side. Overall, it is a solid product that is worth the money but can be finicky at times when dropping, so keep that in mind.
